I'm the voice of Yoda at Poundland's tills and I'm pretty proud of this!
My job doesn't get much sillier or much more fun than providing the voice of Yoda for Poundland's self-checkouts. Yoda's voice and his strange sentence structure (something called anastrophe) make him one of the most iconic and memorable characters in cinema history. While lots of people I know can do a decent impression of Yoda, I'm especially pleased with my impression — years and years as a voiceover artist have proven useful for some things... This isn't the first self-checkout voiceover I've done: I also provided a sort of scary Dracula voice for Poundland (which won an award) and my Santa voiceover has been used in dozens of stores. It's nice to add Yoda to my range of character voiceovers
I've worked with Poundland before, on the Halloween voiceover I mentioned above, and they're a great company to work with. I love the idea of adding a bit of entertainment at self-checkouts and I also think that the writing on the scripts they've sent me is really good. Poundland is a bit of a British institution now, for people who want to save a bit of money on toys, household items, some groceries, and a pretty wide range of other products. I wonder what checkout voice Poundland will ask me to do next...
If you've read all the way to the end, then I thank you. If you're this interested in my voiceover work, then there's a good chance you might be looking for someone like me to help with your next project. Whether it's a TV or radio ad, a longer explainer video, or even a novelty self-checkout voiceover, I'm always happy to hear from new companies. Get in touch and tell me all about your project and I'll be more than happy to provide a free voiceover sample from your script — this way you'll know for sure whether one of my many voiceover styles is a good fit for you.
